Our bum bags, also known as belt bags, waist bags or fanny packs, are upcycled from new nautical acrylic canvas: top-quality offcuts from boat-cover production, rescued from waste. A fabric made for sun, rain and UV. Sewn with UV-resistant thread, they are worn at the waist or across the body on an adjustable 1.50 m cotton strap.

What a bum bag is for
In town, every day
A bum bag replaces the handbag or the rucksack when you want your hands free. It takes the essentials: papers, phone, keys. Worn across the body and in front of you, it stays in view on the metro, at a market or in a queue.
Travelling
In a station, an airport or a town you do not know, the discreet inner pocket keeps your passport and important papers safe. The 1.50 m strap goes over a coat, so the same bag works on a winter train and on a summer terrace.
On a walk, whatever the weather
The canvas comes from the boating world, where it protects boats from sun and bad weather. It suits a coastal walk, a day on the bike or an easy hike. Water-repellent canvas sheds a shower, but it is not waterproof: in lasting rain, put anything that dislikes water in a bag.

How to choose your bum bag
The colour
Each colour is made in small quantities. A dark colour hides everyday marks better; a light or bright one is easy to spot at the bottom of a bag or on a bench. If yours is sold out, leave your email on its page and you will be told if it returns.
How you wear it
At the waist, the bag sits in front or on the hip with the strap short. Across the body, you lengthen the strap up to 1.50 m and pass it over your chest. Adjusting takes a few seconds, over a T-shirt or over a coat.
What it holds
It is a small bag, made for the essentials: phone, keys, papers, something to pay with. For a towel, a book or shopping, look at a handbag or a tote instead.

Looking after your bum bag
Washing
Bum bags in nautical canvas go in the washing machine. After a wash, the water repellency may have faded: a re-proofing product brings it back. Close the zip before starting the cycle. The suede-effect bag is not machine washable: clean it by hand with a damp sponge.
Drying
Let it air dry with the strap unfolded, so the cotton dries too.
Between washes
A damp cloth is usually enough for a light mark. Empty the inner pocket from time to time: receipts and papers leave creases and crumbs.
